Laser collimator ... out of stock

I've never met a Laser collimator that I LIKED ! ( with apologies to Will Rogers )

Seriously, I have always found them to be not tangent to the tube, and I end up having to focus on some point source of light such as the reflection of the Sun off a round object like a yard ornament or chrome bumper bullet (Or even a STAR at night, imagine that !) to do a good job .

Why are those collimators so popular? Anybody care to comment ?

I suppose they are popular because you can do a quick and dirty collimation in moments.

I use mine to double check collimation (ie after its collimated with my Catseye) , if the dot is in the same place then i know im 99% there and it takes maybe 30 secs

Im not sure what I want really :D I see lots of advice on collimation and I think I have it sorted ..... just thought a laser would be good to check I have got it right :)

Some advice says I should see 3 mirror clip and some say its not possible with some scopes ....How do I know if I need to see all 3 on my scope ?

Cheers MM:)
