Cleaning a barlow

I noticed the other day that my 2x Ultima looks, in the words of the BFG, disgusterous. There's a fair bit of dust and a few smudges on the lens -- enough to be visible through the eyepiece.

I have some Baader cleaning fluid and a cloth, but what's the best way to clean the lens? Remove it completely (noting the orientation and clean it with the cloth? Or is there some more cunning way that means the lens can be left in place?

glad I did not go ahead and clean the Tal barlow I have bought recently James.

I was going to use some BWF and cloth too, best hang on and see if that will be ok.

just curious James, after reading your post I thought there may be another method but I am sure the BWF will do a fine job.
