Street lights

First time ive been up and about this late for a few weeks - just noticed -all of out street light are out! Its pitch black out the front, Theyre back on by 630am when I leave for work. Nearest light are out the back across the other side of a playing field - bigger road so theyve been left on. Also very close to M25 which has downward facing lights which seem to give very little pollution so pretty good conditions out the back now,

It would be great if the whole country followed suit, and made it a legal requirement for security lights only to be used if pointing downwards. I am quite envious of our ancestors, but then they never had the scopes we have now ha.
