Don't wait till your nearly dead, do it now! Me the wife and kids have done it for years. Book a flight and off you pop. worry about accommodation when you get there. £5 p/n for room, food £5 p/p. budget £3000 for 3-4 weeks, flights, hotels, food, travel, excursions, spends the lot. Best thing you'll ever do.

That £3000 all in, not each.

Very cheap - you can get a dhal bhaat for dinner for around EUR 1.30. For breakfast, a bowl of porridge costs around 50 cents. You can get lodgings from around EUR 3 to EUR 16 a day (atthe higher price you have your own bathroom, but you still only have solar-heated water).
