St-102 v 127 sct for imaging

If you had to choose one of the above scopes as an imaging scope, which one would get your vote. A st-102 or a 127 sct with a 6.3 reducer fitted ?

you have the 127, i would say stick with that for now

Depends on what you want to image. For DSO's or other widefield objects, with a suitable filter to suppress CA, the ST80 would probably be a better bet than the 127 with focal reducer. The 127 should win easily on the Moon and planets.

I'm starting to go more towards the dso side of things as I like a challenge. Would the 102 be a good addition rather than a replacement ? for the dso side of things.

You might have some problem with your mount. The Nexstar SE mount is an alt az mount so it's not suitable for long exposure imaging. You can get a wedge, but they aren't cheap.

I will keep the 127 for planetary imaging. Don't bother with DSO until you get a mount upgrade.

the mount is being changed after xmas for a cg5-gt, so thats not a problem.
