Hi all,

I am new to this,so dont giggle please!! If I stick my imaging source

DMK 21 on to the end of my 100 mm, 1000fl refractor, and point it at jupiter, what is the magnification???? Also, how can I increase the magnifaction except with a Barlow (is that the only way????).

How do some of you guys get such large pics of, say ,Jupiter?:)

The field of view of the DMk21 is about the same as viewing through a 6mm eyepiece. You can use this Field of View calculator to calculate various telescope/camera combinations. To get a better image scale you need to use a barlow lens, ideally you should be trying to get a f number of f20 - f30 for planetary imaging.

Hello Gordon.

General opinion suggests that the magnification effect of a small sensor webcam type camera is equivalent to using a 6mm eyepiece visually. A Barlow lens is the easiest way to increase the image scale but you could also use eyepiece projection. :)
