The thing you need is called a telescope.

Believe that you can "see" the brightest stars on a clear day through a scope if it is pointed at them.

They are throwing their light down all the time only problem being this scattering effect of the light from that star pretty close to us. But they are still there just swamped by the general day light.

See if Sirius or Rigel are expected to be well above the horizon at thid time of yer durig daylight and give them a try.

You will need a clear day, one without any cloud or much water vapour to absorb their light and if you look the scope will have to pointed at them almost first attempt as you are not going to have much chance of searching. Wonder if binoculars would be better?

Was a post on this about 2 weeks back.

It's a cloudless day that's the problem, so I'm going to try radio astronomy. Garden's not big enough for a serious dish though :) Wish I'd been ready for the Draconids ;)

But it's true that you can get your scope out in daylight. Astronomy Now this month has an article about daytime telescoping, there's more than *just* the Sun to be seen.
