Cleaning Web Cam CCD

Recommended Posts

There seems to be allot of dust on my toucam CCD. Its more noticeable when using my 5X barlow. When you unscrew the 1.25" adapter there is very little room to clean the CCD. So far I have only succeeded in moving the dust blobs about. :D Anyone had to clean their toucam ? how did you do it ?

Maybe try searching on g**gle for "CDC sensor cleaning". Photographers suffer from dust bunnies on their dslr all the time and usually resort to the following:

1. Dry cleaning the sensor. This means trying to blow the dust off with an air bulb. The advice is not to use compressed air at all. Canned air can squirt propellant on the sensor and damage it. Try a few strong air puff with the bulb.

2. Wet cleaning the sensor. This uses special sensor cleaning fluid and a special swap made with pec pad. A couple of drops of isopropyl alcohol on the tip of a pad will do. Just stroke it lightly over the sensor in one direction only. Let excess evaporate before applying.

Some links I hope you find useful:

Hope this helps,
