filters for my 127 mak

Your best bet is probably to start with an UHC filter.

This will enhance the view of emission Nebulae.

Personally I prefer the O-III but some find them to aggressive with smaller scopes.

I have tried the LP filters but for me they are just not as effective as either of these two. They just don't seem aggressive enough in larger scopes.

That said, recently one of my observing buddies tried my Astronomik CLS filter in his 4" frac and the enhancement was very evident indeed.

I think it's a case of suck it and see. Try a few at your local society meet.

The trouble with the Mak is that UHC filters - or any of the other mirror-looking filters (OIII etc.) - really need exit pupils in the range 3-6mm, which a Mak doesn't deliver.

So in practice, you'll likely find the view too dark.

You'll get some use out of such a filter - just maybe not as much as you might hope.
