Prime Focus with a Barlow

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have been doing prime focus astrophotography for about a year now. My Newt has the convienient feature of a thread that can directly screw onto my T-Ring, thus eliminating the need for a T-Adapter. After taking many images, I was ready for a bigger scope. But I read of many people using Barlows with a T-Adapter which I assume gives more magnification. At this point, my Prime Focus gives me about 25x magnification directly attached to the scope. If I get a T-Adapter, use the 2x barlow which I already own, and take images would I get descent results. Im imaging at F5, so will this increase my Focal Ratio significantly with the barlow and will I be able to reach enough inward focus (common Newt issue). Im using a Celestron C6 Newtonian, any input is appreciated. Thanks again, and hopefully we get clear skies sometime in our lives:icon_salut:
