Mark at Beaufort
4" APO frac and 15x70 binos in the garden - setup and waiting to go. I will have a look at M101 (my site is dark) and let you know later whether I can still see the SN.I will look at this first before the Moon becomes too bright.Mark
spaceboy
I have seen it sort of but not confirmed it as such. With out the back ground galaxy being visible I had to rely on the GT getting me on target but being unsure on the orientation of the view I just had to make do taking in what I saw. If any of that makes sense I'm hoping it will still be around for next weeks star party and the skies play ball to confirm it for sure.
Mark at Beaufort
Although the sky was clear the transparency was not very good. Failed to see either M101 or the SN.Moon started to be very bright so decided to view Uranus and Neptune instead. We might have a few clear nights over the next few days so will have another go at the SN.Mark
spaceboy
I gave it a go also but couldn't make out any of the stars from last time.
Mark at Beaufort
Set up the 10" Dob last night with the 80mm finderscope.I could see M101 in the finder but not the SN. In the Dob the SN was still easily detected although it has faded to about 11.5 mag.Still nice to keep a check on it.Mark
spaceboy
Thanks Mark. Just got to hope the clouds stay away from the skies of the star party now
ronin
Is the SN still in M101 by any chance?? Do you have any idea how much I want to reply that it has drifted out of M101 and is now over the boarder in M51 in Canes Venatici ?
matsey
I managed to catch the SN on Saturday evening.. I put it at about mag 11.5 as well - I can only just see it now with averted vision. Have to say as well, in my 6" scope and with the LP I have, if I hadn't seen it when it was much brighter, I doubt very much I would be able to find it now at all. Still, was great to see it while I could, and at least with it noticeably fading I can definitely say it was the SN I was viewing over the last couple of months, and not just some random background star
