I reckon I have to pull back my "impossible" answer. Did not know Skywatcher's electronics was that modular, and was in the wrong belief a HEQ5 *classic* had to be GOTO-ised.

Somewhere on the page should be stated how to flash - or it is in the Synscan manual. Just having a look ...

Found it - you can download the Synscan manual for V3 systems. Page 13 - "Updating the Synscan Firmware".
