Thanks Neil yes I came round to your thinking in the end...well actually it was when I saw your last RGB shot and compared to mine I thought darn it looks way too dull and lifeless. James mentioned the background and I've tweaked again so will be uploading repro number 50 lol Must set all my monitors to the same brightness it keeps catching me out.

Calibrating your monitor can be helpful. I do it once a month or so. It involves hanging a light measuring device on the monitor and running some software. There are several companies that make them.

It's surprising what a difference it makes and, if you have a colour profile installed for your printer, you get a reasonable match between what's on screen and what comes out on paper.
