DYI dewshield

Hello, I hope to get some help for the dewshield I am making from a camping madress. i am making it for my 200mm newt but I am not sure how long the shield should extend from the tube. any suggestions?

Make it around 40cm long in total, any shorter it won't be too efficient and, if longer, it will tend to deform "out of round" which can be a real pain! My own one has small cut-outs on one end so that it slips past the spider screws and ends up around 6-8cm onto the end of the tube - don't forget you don't want it to blow off on a windy night.

By the way I assembled mine with a few spots of superglue (but not onto the scope!!) - works a treat!

A general rule of thumb is length = 1½ x tube dia.

Oh, and keep superglue well away from your scope and lenses. It's fumes will stick like you know what to a blanket.
