Dark Sky areas in Essex ?

Hello

I live in east London / West Essex , and was wondering if there are any dark sky site around that are suitable and safe for viewing ?

Hi, tough call given your location. Have you contacted local astronomy clubs ? They would be likely to know of any decent places.

I'm in Southend on Sea, and a member of Castle Point Astronomy Club we do have a dark site on the Essex coast, but it's on private land and for members only, and an

hours drive for me.

Having said that, if you can find somewhere shielded from nearby lights, then enjoyable astronomy can be done from the town.

Problem I have is I work shift / odd hours , my local club meet on Thursday nights and I get very few off
