Extending EQ6PRO handset cable

I have built a "warm" room attached to my observatory and want to operate my scopes from there. Focus motor control is no problem, but how do I extend the hand controller of this mount a distance of about 7metres? I have tried connecting the RJ45 connector to a made up cable (with all the wires in the correct order!), but get only an error message " no connection to mc, stand alone mode"

The handset to mount cable is a standard cat5 network cable.

Thanks Cornelius, but what exactly is a CAT5 network cable and does it have the correct pin-outs?

I missed that you have an EQ6 Pro not an EQ5/HEQ5 Pro so you will need a cable like this one Astronomiser - Automated Astronomy and AstroImaging Solutions.

A cat 5 network cable is a standard ethernet available from all PC retailers and is a replacement for the handset cable on the other SYnscan mounts.
