Skywatcher GOTO Location Cords Input Help :D

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have been using my skyliner flextube for 1 week and today will be my first time using the goto.

Can an expert help me convert these cords to the style skywatcher wants?

My GPS give my location as:

Lat: 51.448164˚ N

Long: 0.012554˚ E

My sky watcher wants the data as.

XXX˚ XX' E/W

XX˚ XX' N/S

Thanks :)

Hi Cornelius, thanks for your prompt reply. Just in time for me to drive to my dark site :)

I understand where the North data is being pulled from. But the east data is confusing me a lot as i can't see where you pulled the 000 and the 01 East from?

To help me understand how does this other location convert:

Latitude = 51.3840, Longitude = 0.8900

Lat = 51 degrees, 23.0 minutes North

Long = 0 degrees, 53.4 minutes East

I am correct to say it would be?:

000 53 E 51 23 N

That looks right.

The Synscan handset requires the cooridinates in degrees and minutes. The longitude figure will be between 000d 00m E/W and 180d 00m E/W, the handset needs all the digits entering.
