These are all repeats but I don't remember watching any of them.

22:00 HAWKING - Drama telling the story of Stephen Hawking's early years as PHD student at Cambridge. Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) plays Hawking

23:30 HORIZON, The Hawking Paradox. Shown in 2005, examines Hawkings most controversial theory and possibly his greatest mistake - the information paradox.

00:20 LOST HORIZONS: The Big Bang. Prof Jim Al Khalili delves into over 50 years of the BBC archive to tell the story of the big bang.

Thank goodness for Sky+ :)

I've just had a watch of the "Information Paradox" again.

The funny thing is, I don't think either Hawking or Susskind have fully grasped what is defined by using the term "information". What they have both tried to do is attempt to explain the physical properties and nature of the universe, in this case black holes, by using mathematics. Which is fine as that's partly what physics is all about and indeed what the word actually means.

What they have possibly failed to understand though is that reality is only a manifestation of information that already exists in an immutable state.

Reality itself does not create, change or destroy any information whatsoever. It is merely a by-product of the informations eternal existence through which it can perceive and evaluate itself.

Y'er a brave man, Sur. ;)

But, such thoughts are not beyond the bounds of possibility. To me, theoretical physics can sometimes seem an ODD thing. To the general public, a series of arbitrary (non-mathematical?) "pronouncements" - To me (an ex-particle physicist) pages of impenetrable Math(s). :hello2:

I *admire* Hawking... I'm not sure I LIKE him quite as much.
