John
Using my 6" F/5.9 maksutov-newtonian, I was intending to have a look at the supernova in M51 tonight but the skies are a little too milky to enable it to be more than glimpsed with averted vision (even then only in moments of better seeing) so I had a look at some of my favourite binary stars instead which seemed to be unaffected by the DSO-unfriendly conditions I can't remember whether I've done this one before but I got a nice split of Pi Aquillae at 225x (4mm Ortho). This is quite a faint pairing and I believe the separation is around 1.4 arc seconds. It was a nice, clear split though and very pleasing to the eye
lunator
JohnGood split. It is about 1.4" I have always found it trickier to split that you would expect. CheersIan
DarkerSky
Tempted to give this one a shot tonight. Sky is a bit murky but could be clear enough.
