Revelation Dob secondary mirror removal

HI

I've decided to get my 12" mirror and secondary recoated as they are both tarnished.

I have removed the primary (having had to cut through double sided sticky pads using dental floss) but I am having trouble with the removal of the secondary from its plastic holder. I am guessing it is also held in place with double sided sticky pads inside the holder, but I am at a loss how to remove it without doing any damage.

If anyone out there has had a similar experience I would be grateful for guidance.

hope this helps to show how the mirror is 'embedded' in the plastic holder. I have removed the metal 'safety' clip.

I believe that the Revelations use the same mirrors and mirror cells as the Meade Lightbridges do. I found this on removing the secondary from a Lightbridge:

John, thanks for the link. Looks similar so will give it a try. I was coming to the conclusion that a bit of force may be required.

Job done - no apparent damage. Will just need to resource sticky pads now to put it back together

most people use good quality clear silicone - like the sort used for fish tanks I believe.

the general consensus is either a ring or three small blobs.
