Camera to HEQ5 adaptor

Hi Guys,

I want to attach my DSLR to my HEQ5. Both the dovetail plate & camera have the standard camera screw thread "slots". So what I need is a "double headed" camera screw thread. Jessops are "confused" when I explain what I want.

Any idea who might be able to supply one of these? - couldn't see anything on Telescope House website. Have e-mailed Steve at FLO - but nothing shown on his site.

Thanks

Tom

SORTED.

After reading CCs response to my query of yesterday, I started thinking. I had an unused Skywatcher dovetail plate for my HEQ5. I also have an old Celestron 6" Newt and the tube rings have a screw set in them (for astrophotograpy purposes) that is the correct thread for a camera. Surely I can mate the two together some way to set up my HEQ5 / dovetail plate / DSLR combo?

It took an hour of trying different combinations of washers, small nuts (apart from me) and the dovetail plate / camera "screw head" to get it right. But now my DSLR can directly attach to the dovetail plate, which is still able to slide onto the HEQ5 mount head and be tightened up.

So now I have a tracking camera mount for the DSLR and don't have to piggy back the DSLR on my LX90. I can observe an object in the DSLR and (at the same time) use the DSLR with either a wide angle lens or telephoto to do some simple tracked imaging. Great - and at no cost, as I used bits and pieces I already had.
