this may be a wast of time but does anyone now if i can operate my camera from a laptop for astro pics like you can for ccd operating

i have looked om here but cant find anything there proberly is but need help finding it please

thankyou for that thread but what iam trying to do is view the image via my laptop as it takes the image if that makes sence bit like webcam image live?

The Canon cameras that have live view are the EOS 450 and newer. The 350 doesn't have live view so you can't see a live image on a laptop.
