Starscapes in France

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new to SGL but I thought I'd share some of my recent photos in these forums.

These were taken on holiday in the Auvergne in France, a very nice region if you're not familiar with it. We have a holiday home there at about 1,000m and with very little light pollution. Problem is that you don't always get clear skies :D

But, back in April we has some really nice weather, just like in the UK, so we took our SW200P out with us to do some imaging.

This set of photos though was cheating - just using our Panasonic Lumix G1 with the standard 14-45mm (28-90mm 35mm equivalent) lens to include some landscape features and me and my scope in my best Brian Cox pose!

Relatively short exposures 10-30 secs with the main feature being the crescent moon - slightly overexposed byt you can make out the earthshine so I quite like it.

Hope you enjoy them!

Dan

I forgot this one from later in the night - Orion over the local village - you can see the illuminated church steeple and an annoying car's headlights :-)

A single 15 sec exposure.
