Reflective slit - for low res spectrograph

Recommended Posts

I decided I needed a reflective slit for my Low Resolution Spectrograph. To this end I modified a brightstar flip mirror and added a slit from Shelyak and a mirror and lens from Edmund optics plus various bits from the garage! While not cheap it gives a first class system using just hand tools. The big plus for the brightstar unit is you can take it to bits and it is all T-threads so it was easy to interface with. I just need to fill some unused holes and I am away

The design is very simple and could be used with any spectrograph.

Looks good!

I'll be interested to see your results.

I've been using the Vixen flip body to support a beamsplitter for guiding and now I'm also looking a reflective slit option for the Spectra-L200.
