You will have to forgive my ignorance Will. I know a lot of people sketch what they see at the EP so I'm assuming your capturing the image then creating a drawing of it in photoshop afterwards ???? I have also considered this as I find it a struggle to go from EP to trying to draw in the dark.

far from being an expert I would have to say 1, seems to me like there is slightly more contrast to this one and you things look a little clearer. rings seem a little bit better on 1 almost like you can make out the cassini division when you go towards the edge of them.

Hi Will

Here are some choices of free/trial software for capturing your AVI's, stacking and processing.

Downloads - SharpCap

RegiStax- Free image processing software

wxAstroCapture - Windows and linuX Astronomy Capture

K3's Astronomy Home Page

Paint shop is an excellent program for editing your captures but here are some others you may wish to try once you have your processed JPEG, BITMAP

Free Photo Editing Software – PhotoPlus Starter Edition from Serif

GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software (Photo Editor) Download

I think you may be shocked at the improvements that can be made by getting the right software combination.

I hope this helps.

BTW I also think picture 1 :)

You have good image scale, as in size, but I wonder, did you leave the camera in auto exposure mode?

Thats what it looks like to me, and it has over exposed the shots.

Not so much picture 1 maybe.

Or it could be too much colour saturation.

Or just too much processing.

Are these one frame each? or did you capture a couple of minutes of video and stack the frames in Registax? Thats the usual process with planetary pictures.
