What's the best way to store tube indoors after observing?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I view from the back yard and all my telescope gear is stored in the house when not being used.

What is the best way to look after the tube when bringing it back into the house after viewing (condensation etc).

When I got my scope earlier this year I simply laid it down on the floor and the condensation on the mirror cleared after an hour or so. I then put the covers on the tube & focuser.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) suggesting that if you pop the covers over the tube and focuser while still outside (trapping the cold air inside), then bring it it indoors it should be okay provided you don't open the covers again.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.
