Looks pretty good for a first attempt. If you mention what the exposure, video duration, fps, percentage stack in AS3 was etc. we could possibly offer some tips. 🙂 Did you use the ADC?
I took some Jupiter videos tonight, first time since last year, at different exposures from 2 to 5mS, and varying video durations, so will see how they compare when i process them tomorrow. The ADC tuning in Firecapture showed quite a large red/blue split and still needed about 20 deg on each ADC lever to correct it at the meridian.
Alan
Hi Alan just looked at my settings and they are
Exposure=8.2420ms
Duration=74.825s
ActualFrameRate=72.1552fps
about 60% stack
i also used the adc which didnt seem to make much difference until i went too far and then in introduced colouring,so jury out on that one,processed in astrosurface which has become my new best friend😁

What size is your video file? Reason I ask is becuase Registax has a video file limtation of 2-2.5GB or something like that, so can no longer do planetary alignment and stacking from mondern planetary cameras.
It's becuase of this (and also knowing there will never be a new version of Registax to correct this issue) we all user AutoStakkert or AstroSurface for aligning and stacking our AVI and SER files.Though, Regi is still boss for post processing the waveletts on tiff files
thanks Simon just checked and the minimum file size i have is 8gb explains why the moon captures worked ok as they were all less than a 1gb,so you stack with AutoStakkert then use registax? thanks
-
can anyone suggest why this ser file wont open correctly in registax its just a blank screen but when i play it in ser player ,it plays fine
-
another problem im having is when i put the ser file in registax its just a black image but when i play the ser file on its own its just like the video file i captured

I haven't imaged Jupiter though when not using an IR blocking filter I used on general and astro R64 B93
Are you using an IR/UV filter?
hi happy kat,no uv filter but using an adc which doesnt seem to do much

I would personally capture in RAW8 instead of RGB24. Id also use a longer exposure time of around 5ms, and lower gain if necessary.
Try switching on high speed mode and see what frame rates you get. You’re using a USB3 camera but in a USB2 port, do you have any USB3 ports on your laptop?
thanks craig im capturing through a usb over lan which takes it down to usb 2 speed

does anyone have a screen shot of there video for comparison please
