Damn, didn’t notice the subject C8 EDGE HD.
In principle, tho’, go off focus and check the concentricity of the shadow and adjust.

no probs thanks anyway

thanks thats great👍

thanks not checked collimation will do tonight if possible, presume i leave the 3 locking bolts loose? i can use the image through my ccd to check collimation? thanks again

Hi all well after using my ts optics scope for 2 years ive decided to set my c8 up for imaging, imaging train set to the recommended 133.3mm backfocus ,and guiding was very good anyway a couple of questions someone may be able to help with
1..added a 5 min lum sub stretched ,stars are not perfect any advice
2..the c8 is f10 against my ts optics which was f4 i believe what equivalent time do i need with the c8 for the same capture as the ts optics
thanks

Hi all just about to order a baader clicklock for the back of my c8 edge, but are these good enough to hang my imaging train from ,any comments cheers

hi all just trying to set my c8 up for imaging ,removed bits off my other scope and left with needing to fit the bits together need to attached the off axis guider to the rotator ((48mm each side)needs to be about 20mm long to get the oag in) then from the rotator to the c8 which is a 2" male thread i believe, could i use a baader clicklock on the telescope end with a nosepiece to allow small adjustments to my back focus or any other suggestions please

Thanks did it work OK on autofocus

I'm no PI expert but before doing DBE or ABE I would:
- use StarAlignment to ensure all the components are aligned and registered
- use DynamicCrop to ensure all edge artefacts are removed.
- use ABE with Subtraction
- use BackgroundNeutralization to try to 'even up' the background space followed by ColourCalibration
- create a CIE-L mask to focus on the background and use MLT to reduce noise only in the background
- use HT for an initial incremental stretch (with the mask removed)
- use MLT (less aggressive) with a new CIE-L mask for further background noise reduction
- use ACDNR with the same mask to focus on the background to further remove noise.
After all that you should have something to allow you move forward on the galaxies themselves to bring out the detail and colours, again with suitable masks.
I have used the LightVortex tutorials and found them very helpful.

I think that it will be excellent in that role. According to Celestron - it is well corrected scope across large field.
Put x0.7 reducer designed for EdgeHD scopes and you'll have nice 1400mm of focal length with 8" scope.
Pair it with larger sensor - up to APS-C size and aim for about 1.2-1.4"/px (bin if needed - either in hardware with CCD sensor or in software with CMOS) and you'll get very potent imaging system.
I have something very similar - RC8" with 1600mm of focal length and ASI1600 and I'm happy with that setup.
EdgeHD8 should have similar performance.
Consider guiding with OAG.
thanks do you have any uncropped examples please
are my stars too large

thanks olly, still trying to get the collimation bang on ,would you say my backfocus and focus look ok though, will give it another go tonight.Just looked on astrobin and seems common with the c8 edge on the cigar galaxy size wise
