Hi couple of weeks ago we talking about using a DSLR on my explorer 150.Camera is a canon 40D bit old i know,i have the attachments the Canon eos ring and the T piece. no i experimented in the garden just on a tv antenna which was a success, photo enclosed. Now i tried on the Moon this evening, between clouds and was a total failure,no way could i get it into focus,i tried 2 methods one with T piece direct into telescope eye piece and again with a barlow, both failed. Is it poss i may need a extension tube to get focus?.Telescope is non motor at the moment.Sorry to be a nuisance. Regards derek

Yes. Not a good idea unless you're confident of your engineering skills.
I wonder whether a shorter focuser is available for your telescope? It might be simpler to replace it than to modify it. I suggest you contact First Light Optics, or whoever you bought the telescope from, to see whether a shorter focuser is available and what's involved in retro fitting one.

Enclosed are some photos first is those antenna again range about 250 yards best i can focus second photos shows the focuser and the amount i wound it out to get that focus, third photo shows camera attached to eye piece,it is fully home in that.Hope this helps a bit.Yes my engineering skills leave a lot to be desired. For some reason i can not get the same focus on the moon in fact it remains out of focus.Second photo the focuser is nigh on wound fully out any more and it goes out of focus.Afraid my typing skills are zero
