  1. Hi I spotted a fireball, descending vertically down towards the horizon, seen @21:54 roughly to the south west. Seen from Galway Ireland. Has anyone else seen it or got an image from widefield camera?
  2. Great piece of kit, absolutely love mine. An interesting side benefit too that is not immediately obvious. The eye relief and FOV makes it much easier for people who are not familiar to scopes to observe. When showing family members, they all remarked how much better this was than my plossl eyepieces. I suspect the difference is the nice big FOV and eye relief made observing easier.
  3. Hi, I have the Hyperion zoom and you can indeed use filters with it.
  4. I would be interested in seeing how you get on with this myself as I have the same mount and the 2 motors for RA ans Dec
  5. Hello, I was hoping that someone here would be able to point me in the right direction. I have a Skywatcher 1145p Newtonian (picture below). It has a fairly simple rack and pinion focuser. I have noticed that there is a lot of play in it. When focusing I need to keep a finger on it as it rocks up and down when focusing the draw tube in and out. It cannot hold large eyepieces or a camera at all and when putting in a laser colimator I can move the laser all over the place with the movement in the draw tube. My question is how do I tighten it up. The previous owner gave me some nylon shims and there are a couple in the draw tube already. I can't see any Allen keys that could tighten up the mechanism. Is there a way to make this mechanism more solid? I searched the forum but couldn't find anything, google has given me results for Crawfords and R&P focusers that have tension screws. I could be wording this question wrong to be honest, any help would be much appreciated. - Conor
  6. He brought me a New (to me) Baader Hyperion Zoom. As is typical got clouds for free 😊
  7. Thanks Philip, that is good feedback. I will keep an eye out for a secondhand example for sure. Do they work as well in a more open scope of f5 or is it silly for me even to be thinking this way?
  8. Hello All, I recently got my first setup, I bought it second had from a kind gentleman who was upgrading. Everything was very well taken care of and I have had fun using it so far. I have made a list of what I have below. What I need some advice on is upgrading the Eyepieces and Barlows. The eyepieces I have are the ones that were shipped with the respective telescopes. The 10mm's exit pupil is very small and would like something more comfortable to look through at this focal length. From researching here I see that the BST are recommended, especially for f9 and above scopes. But would these not work well with the skywatcher. I would like to get something that would work in both. With Barlows, I see that the price can get quite expensive but where would the sweet spot be for me for telescopes like these. Should I just save up and get something like a Hyperion Zoom? One and done kind of idea. This is where I am confused. I don't want to waste money on an expensive eyepiece if the bottle neck is the scope. I hope that is making sense. What I am interested in using the telescopes for, is honestly a bit of everything, observing and astrophotography. I would like to be able to get more detail out of the planets, with a nice comfortable eyerelief and field of view. Scopes: Bresser Messier AR-102/1000 refractor, Sky-watcher 1145p (f5, 500mm) reflector Mount: Bresser EXOS-2, with tracking motors installed (no GoTo) Cameras: Fujifilm X-T3, Nikon D90 Accessories: Solar filter, 10mm, 15mm, 25mm eyepiece, bahtinov mask, adapters for cameras and filters Thanks for thanks the time to read. Clear skies.
