  1. Wish I had ordered this one now only 1-2 days delivery. The heritage 130p could be up to 60 days 🙄
  2. Hi all, I have been part of this forum for just under two weeks and although I'm still waiting for my new telescope I'm reading and learning loads. A big shout out to @wookie1965 aka Paul for such a generous gift. He sent me these two things in the post. So generous and so appreciated. Thank you so much Thank you all for a warm welcome and your help so far 😁👌
  3. I am still waiting for my heritage 130p telescope to arrive. It's nearly two weeks now.

    HELLO

Welcome. I've have only just started myself, so plenty here more qualified than me on scopes etc. But everyone is so helpful and welcoming 😁
  5. Just received nightscenes and I think it's graat. Really accessible and from just reading a few pages things are starting to make sense. It got better when I realised that the pages weren't just printed on thick paper, but actually folded out for each month 😁 lol Thanks for recommendation
  6. Hi all, hope you are well? I was wondering for those that own the skywalker heritage 130p telescope if you have had any luck with a smartphone adapter? Where the eye piece mounts, it doesn't look completely solid and I worry if attaching a smartphone adapter would break that part if the telescope. Haven't had delivery of my heritage 130p yet, but wonder if anyone had been successful in this regards? Thanks in advance
  7. I think that's the way I'll be going when I finally get my telescope 😁😁🔭
  8. There was a break in the cloud and I quickly took binoculars and phone outside and captured this. It's far from sharp and far far from the best photo ever, but not bad for just holding phone up to eye piece. 😁📱
  9. Wow look at that 😍 I've just ordered a skywalker heritage 130p, and awaiting its delivery... So Excited just like you 😁👌
  10. Such a shame that the cloud cover is terrible here in Liverpool, UK. Would have been a perfect night for my first observing with my new binoculars

    I'm back!

    Welcome 👌😁
  12. Just arrived. They are superb and only looked out of the window 👌😁 My eyes fit snug in the eye pieces and no need for my glasses. I can hold them without any shake. Solid binoculars for £60!
  13. I looked at the 8x40, but from what I read the 50 would be better as let's in more light. Obviously they will be heavier but the olympus got the better reviews for sure 👍
  14. Really helps. Thank you so much. I'm pleased with the decision and hopefully they arrive tomorrow 😁
  15. Phew... I'm Glad. I read up on so many and after ordering the praktica I had to cancel as the olympus looked so much better
  16. Thanks Mark. I'm pleased. They arrive tomorrow, but now skies are cloudy lol How did you take the photo?
  17. So after ordering the skywalker heritage telescope (awaiting 3 weeks for delivery), I decided after reading through a lot of posts on here to also purchase some binoculars so I can start getting used to the sky and what to look for. (Althought its now cloudy for the next 2 weeks. Typical! Anyway, at first I ordered the Praktica 7x50 Falcon Porro Prism Binoculars which cost £27. I was advised that the 7 x 50 would be the best for my needs because of the wide view. However I decided in the end to purchase the Olympus 10x50 DPS I Binoculars which cost £59.99. I am not sure I ahve made the right decision, but I made the decision on the basis of my eyesight and that even with glasses I have certain eye issues and thought the extra magnification would help. Even though I udnerstand the lense shake and stability hence the original 7 x 50 choice. The Olympus also had a lot more reviews and positive feedback. Well they arrive tomorrow so I will feedback on what i think. 🙂 What do others have and recommend? And have a I made the right choice?
  18. Welcome. I'm. A newbie here too, but everyone is so welcoming. I don't have a clue and just started learning and reading up on things, but one scope that was recommended to be was the skywalker heritage 130p telescope. Its portable, easy to set up and a great starter scope and on here and elsewhere has great reviews. Plenty of advice and help on this forum though 😊👍 Welcome again 👌😁
  19. Hi all, hope you are all well and safe. So after posting at the weekend and ordering my first ever telescope - a skywalker heritage 130p which I am very excited to receive in the post (takes 3 weeks to arrive), I am now reading this book. 😊 I am very confused with names, numbers, acronyms, coding system. But I'm sure in 6 months I'll be more knowledgeable than I am now in all things star gazing. Thanks for all your recommendations on this book. The only downside for me is the size of it - it's a crazy format and in my opinion too big to carry around. Other than that it looks fantastic 👍😁
  20. As many of you know I bought a skywalker heritage 130p yesterday and now patiently waiting for its delivery which could be 15-20days. Which means plenty of time reading up on lots of things 😊 So regarding lenses, it comes with a 25mm which gives a magnification of 26x and a 10mm lens which gives a magnification of 65x. Now I have read up on a 2x Barlow adapter which would mean it would double the magnification, but also you can buy other eye pieces. From a review I watched, apparently the heritage 130p has a magnification of 260x which would mean I would need a 2.5mm lens so when I get better and understand how to spot things etc I can zoom in more. But what is better in the first instance a Barlow 2x or other lenses, 6mm, 3mm etc? Thanks in advance 😁👍
