  1. This little beauty arrived today, after many many suggestions on this forum that it's an absolute ace purchase, I deco to treat myself with some birthday money and bought this book. I've only just started reading it and engrossed already. When the cloudy skies gave gone I'll be turning left at orion and viewing some great things in the night sky and the skies are only going yo get darker as the seasons progress here in North Cornwall, bortle class 3.
  2. Thanks guys, all taken on board and shall be purchasing one and like you say will make my 10mm one that cane with the scope obsolete as its not to great.
  3. Hi Thank you it looks a great piece of software to look for ep much appreciated. Clear skies
  4. Hi thank you I realise now the marketing specs aren't all they are cracked up to be and are much lower. I think I will go for the 7.5mm ep for now then get a 25mm ep soon, as I think I just a newbie and interested in the planets and lunar activity at the moment but I guess a lot of newbies start that way, once I've exhausted my appetite for planet viewing the dso are high in my list. Yes I was reading somewhere online that Mars moves closer to earth in October so I too are hoping for clear skies then. I have the stellirium software on my laptop and star walk 2 installed on my phone and have the book turn left at orion on order for my birthday. Thank you again for your help
  5. Hi Thank you for your reply, I like the idea of the 8mm or 7.5mm as to replace the 10mm which as you say is not the best one to use and gives Jupiter a over exposed look. Where do you get the ep software that shows the fields of view as views as it looks very useful
  6. Hi I have a celestron astromaster 130eq, also a 2x barlow lens, 20mm plossl and 10mm eyepieces. What other size ep would all of you fine people suggest I purchase next. My scope has a useful magnification of x307 so would a 7.5mm ep barlowed x2 be acceptable, I'm interested in viewing planets mostly
  7. Thank you guys I was thinking in around the 6 to 7mm range, how would these work with the barlow or would they be to blurred
  8. Hi I have a celestron astromaster 130eq, also a 2x barlow lens, 20mm plossl and 10mm eyepieces. What other size ep would all of you fine people suggest I purchase next. Kind regards
  9. Hi The forum has been invaluable to me with the advice given, very friendly bunch of people here, good luck and clear skies
  10. Hi. What ep were you using to view jupiter this clear with a celestron astromaster 130eq, I have the same scope
  11. Yes I think autostackket3 is better but I think it's down to personal preference and I'm a newbie at this lark.
  12. Hi this is the full moon and Saturn taken last night from North Cornwall in UK with my astromaster 130eq, 20mm ep barlow x2 with my smartphone, edited with pipp, autostakkert and photoshop, can't wait for the moon to start waning so I can get the definition on the craters, should be Sunday and Monday night here in Cornwall
  13. Hi Girders and Louis I just thought the Bresser would be a good choice but like you say I've looked at the skyliner 150 and one I'm pondering with the choices of upgrades. Yes there's no tracking with the dobs but was thinking about the shake that occurs with some tripod mounted scopes, are there any 130mm scopes on tripods in a reasonable price range that have limited shake for astrophotography you can recommend, I will continue my research as a birthday soon and put money towards the upgrade. Thanks again you two firvyourvhelp it's very much appreciated and a great forum where you don't get judged on the questions you ask. 😁 Hi Louis The Bresser is a dobsonian mount so wouldn't need a tripod but I see they have a dovetail rail if needed to be mounted on a tripod. I would use the Bresser for some astrophotography using my celestron Nexyz smartphone adapter, hence the dobsonian mount for steadier images as I understand on tripods you get more shake. There aren't many reviews firvthe bresser hence askjbgbin the forum. They are German so I would of thought they were solidly built and good quality.

  15. Hi I currently have a celestron cometron 76mm scope and want to upgrade to a better scope, I like the dobsonian types as ease of use, I've seen the Bresser Messier 5inch dobsonian reasonably priced on some websites, just like your thoughts on this scope or would a celestron astromaster 130eq be better, I know it's not dobsonian but like the comparison of the two, my budget is just limited to the price of the Bresser
  16. Hi Thank you for your replies, I thought as much really and needing to upgrade to scope. Really appreciate your advice as that's what's great about this forum. Thanks again
  17. Hi I have a celestron cometron 76mm scope with a 2x barlow lens and a 10 and 20mm ep. To get more out of thus scope would it be worth getting a 3x or 5x barlow lens or upgrade to a 130mm scope.
  18. Hi Yes that focuser tube operation would be an issue as you said its a real shame as it is a great scope and many have recommended it. The celestron Nexyz adapter is the best I've used with my smart phone and wouldn't use anything else. I'll look to other scopes, I have looked atvthe celestron astromaster 130eq.
  19. Hi I am looking atvthe skywatcher heritage 130p telescope as my next scope and I already have a Celestron Nexyz smart phone adapter but I concerned as the heritage has a focus shaft that turns rather than the focus wheels adjusting the focus, how would the Nexyz adapter work with it. Bit complicated if you see what I mean. So when focusing with the heritage the whole phone adapter unit would spin around (would this causing focusing issues with the weight of the phone adapter unit pulling down on the turning mechanism) and with my celestron cometron 76mm when focusing it just moves up and down.
  20. I have tried the cheaper smartphone adapter but very hard to get right, so went a bit expensive a bought the celestron NexYZ 3 way axis universal adapter and its excellent had it set up in 2 minutes and perfect way to line up and great view, worth the extra expense but great item
  21. Hi Dave, yes the barlow is amazing, had the adapter arrive today and a bit fiddly fitting it on a rubberised ep, it's a diamond shaped clamp and not the round one that fits onto ep, may look at ones that fit on the ep round ones. Hand holding oginevto get photos are so fiddly and trying will see how it goes with this one. I struggle alligning 2 cameras on my phone let alone 3 Dave. I will try to fit the nikon dslr onto the Tring adapter and Tring but was out of focus, something I'll look into.
  22. Thank you John, yes can't wait for the adapter to arrive and get better photos and of Jupiter and Saturn.
  23. My celestron t adapter barlow lens arrived yesterday and what a difference it made to my viewing through my scope, just goes to show pay a little bit more and branded, you get a far superior product and experience. This is a photo of the moon I took this morning. I also managed to see Jupiter with 3 moons, Saturn, Mars and a cheeky flyby of the iss. Couldn't get photos of these as waiting for my smartphone adapter to arrive, its hard holding the phone to get photos.
