  1. Hi everyone, I go the rowan belt mod in yesterday and installed it. I have not had the chance to test it out because of cloudy skies. However, I noticed that the DEC drive sounds different from the RA drive. I am also hearing a weird slight purr/grind noise when using the DEC drive. It almost sounds like it's dragging on something and it goes in and out. It actually sounds like a worm gear thats making the noise, the tighter I make the belt the worse the noise gets. Does anyone have any tips? I do not recall hearing this when I used to have the gears.
  2. That is exactly what I have to do as well. I will try to tighten the brass screws some more. Thanks for the help!
  3. Thanks! I didn't even touch those screws yet. Had no idea they were for the focuser rotation. I was just using the middle one that sticks up, with the rubber tip. I will tighten the others up a little bit
  4. I modified my 1000D and was using it for awhile. I see no reason why it wouldn't work with any program that supports canon. You can look into Kstars/Ekos or NINA for free options. You can also go with Astro Photogrpahy Tool or Backyard EOS
  5. If it is a quadruplet then you most likely do NOT need a field flattener. That is because the fourth element IS the field flattener. Do not worry about reducing the focal length quite yet as well. I would recommend going to https://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/ , click on imaging and then input the details of your scope and camera. This will give you and idea of your FOV. type in targets you are interested in capturing and then determine feom there if you would want to reduce your fov. right now I am no reducing my fov, however a benefit of doing so is that your scope becomes faster as well.
  6. Hi, I just recently got my Meade 6000 80mm apo. The attached focus assembly has the ability to rotate to reframe your object. I have the screw holding down the focus assembly, however, it is still able to rotate and gets annoying when I am loosening the self centering piece to remove my camera. Is this normal or does this need to break in? I can try to tighten it more but I do not want to stretch the threads. Its just annoying that when trying to remove the camera that the whole focus assembly is always rotating still. I appreciate all of the help, thanks!
  7. Looks good! Maybe you could use some dithering?
