Wow if you could place a battery and module to make it wireless, im sure you have to order some more filament for all of our orders🙂

I, as a non-expert, would cut 8-10 cm off of the tube. Reinstall the focuser and keep a set of extenders around. 😬. But on the other hand, cutting in a tube....😪

Well on the other hand. When a decades old company has 2 failed products, i think as a company i wouldn’t believe it also. Who can name another company with just a handful of failed products in 30+ years?

Im not sure. When you look at the az 5 for example, same tripod but 5 kg max payload capacity. So the adviced 3 kg must have something to do with the mounthead instead of the tripod.

Maybe those guys had that night 8 of these
and 120 of these
And suddenly all scopes looked equally sharp

Thats indeed what i expect to happen. If its confirmed that it will happen, of course ill skip the whole experiment. Although that astroEQ might be usefull for some other rainy day experiments. If i was aware of that system i would have bought that outdated celestron g11 for a couple of hundreds, that was for sale some months ago. I was afraid there were no options to make it a proper guiding mount.
Im still curious what can be done to eliminate the boardfrying of a synscan mount with upgraded motors

Pics or it didn’t happen😉

Yes, to high torque Nema 17's on my EQ5, but driven by an AstroEQ board using TMC driver modules....
Thats a very helpful answer. I just forgot the eq5 has its motors on the outside. Maybe i should have asked for heq5 and all the 6 series. But did you go to this AstroEQ because the mount didn’t have synscan goto? Because my planned experiment is swap the motors from an Azeq6. New mount but wondering if that spare space inside the housing can be used to mount stronger and longer motors on the same synscan system.

Im not familiar with the ins and outs of stepper motors, but while needing a repair on my cnc spindle (complete different category, 16KW) i discussed some things with the repairguy. We talked about the small nema 14 motors from the skywatcher mounts, also the plenty of room inside the housing of the mount. The high torque versions are just a bit longer and deliver maybe only max 10% more torque. Did any of you swapped the original steppermotor for a high torque version? Or does it fry the circuitboard?

Also have internal discussions about the two. The advance with its 3A raspberry powered usb output, more amps overall and enough usb outputs makes me lean to the advance model. Price isn’t that much higher over here. Around 65,- more than the micro

I had the same issue last year. A little black paint scratch. Great advice from here was to use a silver rectangular sticker/label from a green/black brand to hide the spot

Does Kstars/Ekos run more smoothly on the StellarMate software? I've run KStars/Ekos on my mac and I'm not terribly pleased with it. It doesn't consistently work as I would like it to. I'm considering buying the software for my Raspberry Pi 4 but if the functionality remains the same, I might be better off just getting the ASIAIR pro (I already have a ZWO camera and guide camera).
Did you continue using Stellarmate? I bought the software recently but cant find any good comparison or tutorial. I’m happy with asiair and planning to buy a dedicated camera other than ZWO. So while playing around with Stellarmate, all looks to work similar as asiair. One questionmark for example is, does Stellarmate have the same sort of polaralignment tool built in? Or is that part of the Ekos Live monthly contract?

I must have read over your real issue. I thought it was the same as i had last week. I powered the asiair pro(with sd card in it), opened the asiair app on iphone, immediately got the firmware update message. I assume my app on iphone downloaded the update and transferred it to the sd in the asiair. Knowing it should take some seconds to complete the update, it stuck during the transfer to the asiair pro. I just shut both off. Asiair pro(pulled the usb-c out) & asiair app. After restarting both, the transfer continued as it should, some seconds and all finished well.

Had the same issue. Transferring lasted for ages. Just switched it off and restarted and all went fine. The update took some seconds.

I noticed also some worthy differences. Not just the price(not big), but also the amount of modes and buffersize. I think choosing one over the other, mostly over the zwo version, can benefit.
Refractor for planets, mostly visual, 4" or 5"

How nice would it be if shops send out “try before you buy-versions” of these small items to well known customers. All these dilemmas would be gone.
