  2. Dear all, I have the 60mm APM with the prism (https://agenaastro.com/misc/discontinued-products/apm-60mm-right-angle-correct-image-finder-prism-diagonal.html). Unfortunately, this finder with the APM 20mm 70 reticle eyepiece (https://www.astroshop.eu/eyepieces/apm-reticle-eyepiece-20mm-70d1-25-/p,52755) can not reach focus (the focuser should be able to focus a bit more inside). There is no such problem with the 24mm it https://www.astroshop.eu/eyepieces/apm-1-25-24mm-55d-crosshair-eyepiece/p,52825 and the rest of my eyepieces (even with the 13mm apm 100). Is there anything I can do? Best Panagiotis
  3. Dear all, I am interested in an Antares 2.6 inches secondary either 1/20th or 1/30th wave pv. Please PM. Best Panagiotis
  4. Hello everyone, does anybody knows if I can somehow contact John Owens? I have one 7'', 106'' focal length doublet that he signed on 6/90 and I would like to learn more info about this lens (oil-spaced or air-spaced)?
  5. Hi, I am searching for a 6 inch f5 achromatic refractor (synta, celestron, etc.) in good condition that could be shipped to Greece. If you are interested please PM me Best Panagiotis
  6. Hi Callum, I would like to thank you about the idea. I had the exact same problem but now it is resolved! Best Panagiotis
  7. In case you are interested, you can see some photos in the 9th post in http://www.astrovox.gr/forum/viewtopic.php?p=197623#197623
  8. Thanks for the reply Peter. The two elements of the cell, were separated by 3 small pieces of boxing tape. Probably the lens had be opened again, since there was a big arrow at the sides of the elements to align them. The front lens is biconvex, with the the same curve I believe, and the back is like what you described. So do you believe that the low image quality, the stretched image, etc. can be a result of not using a tube? Regards Panagiotis
  9. Hello everybody. I bought this lens from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370661390588?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 and I am planning to build a refractor, assuming that everything is Ok with the lens and that it is a telescope lens! The lens had a bit of fungus. So I cleaned it by taking apart the cell and letting the glasses inside some water, with vinegar and hyperoxide. Except from some marks on the coating, I believe the lens is now cleaned. The real diameter of the lens is around 19cm, but only 17.2cm are used, since the rest are under the top ring of the cell. It seems like an achromat, but unfortunately the is no information on the lens. I measured its focal length, which is around 2700mm. I placed the lens on a chair and used an eyepiece 20mm (no tube around) and the image was a bit hazy and somehow stretced, with very distinct color. So, since I am a newbie, but really eager to learn, I would like some guidelines about how to test the lens, how to be sure that the cell is assembled correctly, etc. I have no optical tools available. Thank you Regards Papadakos Panagiotis.
  10. What is your opinion about Sterne und Planeten - Teleskope (ED-Apochromaten) und Zubehör zu günstigen Preisen ? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome! Since I am considering a telescope for visual work and no AP do you recommend an ED 80mm? Or should I buy a 102 or 120 startravel, which is also more portable? Thanks again.
  12. Hi Themos. Currently I live in Heraklion. I have gone to Skinakas but unfortunately the observatory was closed. I will go again this summer though one of the days that the observatory will be open to the public!
  13. Hi everybody. My name is Panagiotis and I am from Greece. I have a passion with astronomy, since I was a child, and used to have a TAL-1. Unfortunately living in Athens (a big city with great light polution) was disappointing and ruined my child dreams! Now, since I have a bike and I live in Crete, I can go to places with no lights! So I would kindly ask your help for telescope recommendations. I was thinking about a travelstar 102 or 120, but somehow I think an cheap ED 80mm will be more appropriate. What do you believe? Also do you know of any second hand available instruments, which can be posted to Greece? Thank you.
