  1. In case anyone is interested in trying OnstepX for their mesu here is my code repo with some changes for my mesu. The controller is based on the MAXPCB4 board https://onstep.groups.io/g/main/wiki/33523 and Teensy 4.1. Here is the code repo with some changes for the https://github.com/papadako/OnStepX/tree/mesu P.S. I am using the HEDM-5500-B02 encoder in both RA/DEC
  2. Hello Bryan, I have the exact same Mesu and along with a friend of mine we have made an OnstepX controller based on teensy-4.1.
  3. Thank you all for your great responses. It seems like this project does not worth it!
  4. Hello, I have been thinking about getting one more RC so that I can double the data per night. However, I have not seen such a setup. Only RASA-based ones. I know I will not have a problem with my mount (a mesu-200). But I am not sure about flexture issues since fl is about 1620 Any thoughts on this? CS Panagiotis
  5. Hello, I think the only difference is the ratio, which is 1:2800 instead of 1:2000 of the older one. So you get 11,200,000 ticks for the motor encoders.
  6. Hello, I am not sure if you have already addressed it. From my research I have found that a Mesu-mk1 usually has 1:2000 gear ratios (I think I have heard also of some examples with a 1:2800 ratio). The encoders at least in mine are 4,000 steps in the RA (HEDM-5500-B02) and 2,000 steps in the DEC (HEDS-5540-A02), for a total of around 8,000,000 and 4,000,000 ticks in the RA / DEC resp. Notice that for the encoders we use the CPR which is 4xPPR. My second-hand mesu-200 which came with Argonavis/servocat has been converted to OnStepX (it still needs some fine-tuning though). Right now OnStepX is configured for 22229 ticks/degree and 11111 ticks/degree in the RA/DEC resp.

  8. Dear all, I have the 60mm APM with the prism (https://agenaastro.com/misc/discontinued-products/apm-60mm-right-angle-correct-image-finder-prism-diagonal.html). Unfortunately, this finder with the APM 20mm 70 reticle eyepiece (https://www.astroshop.eu/eyepieces/apm-reticle-eyepiece-20mm-70d1-25-/p,52755) can not reach focus (the focuser should be able to focus a bit more inside). There is no such problem with the 24mm it https://www.astroshop.eu/eyepieces/apm-1-25-24mm-55d-crosshair-eyepiece/p,52825 and the rest of my eyepieces (even with the 13mm apm 100). Is there anything I can do? Best Panagiotis
  9. Hello everyone, does anybody knows if I can somehow contact John Owens? I have one 7'', 106'' focal length doublet that he signed on 6/90 and I would like to learn more info about this lens (oil-spaced or air-spaced)?
