  1. Hi the weather here as for most places at the moment are rubbish so I have spent a little time Making a bracket to mount my Coronado onto a dovetail mount an my Skywatcher AZ5.

I then decided to make a sun shield for my Skywatcher 80ED refractor to help to minimise the glare

They will need to be painted as they are made from mill finish aluminium.

  2. Hi what a good day as previously reported I spent sometime earlier in the day trying out my CoronadoPST, later I spent an enjoyable hour looking at Jupiter which was amazing.

I then had to wait until the Moon was in a good location for me to view and once again amazing.

I then had a look at Mars but I couldn't see much detail and I rounded off the day with views of M42 lovely

  3. Hi I had my first real attempt at observing the Sun with my recently acquired Coranado PST

I have to admit there is a learning curve with this scope

I found the best eyepiece that showed me the best detail was a  10mm Kellner and I was convinced that I saw at least 3 flares along with a definite 3 sunspots.

As with all observing the more you look the more you see and I look forward to many sessions.

  4. Hi I have enjoyed looking at the Sun with my Celestron SE6 with the orange solar filter and the with my Skywatcher 80ED with the white light filter,

I have enjoyed the views of the sun this way and I also viewed the recent partial solar eclipse .

However I have obtained a Meade Coronado PST and today was able to have a look at the Sun, although the image is small I was able to see some good detail on the bright red image produced and look forward to gaining experience with this scope.

Early this evening the conditions were right to observe the Moon Saturn and Jupiter and a little later Mars once again a good day.

  5. Hi the sky was reasonably clear from my location  and the Moon was  visible fairly low down.

I set up my Celestron GT 102 telescope on my AZ5 it was little unwieldy but I spent some time observing with this set up I was amazed at the small amount ofCA visible.

Later I switched to my Skywatcher 127 Mak and the views were amazing, a little time was also spent on Saturn and Jupiter both views were really good despite the Moons glow.

I had 4 neighbours take peaks at all three objects and I was joined by my grandson for a while ,clouds then started to appear and the dew started to increase rapidly but a good early session

The first image with 102GT second with the Skywatcher 127 both with phone

  6. Hi I have once again had the luck for another nights viewing.

The planets  Saturn and Jupiter have shown really good detail these past couple of nights with the views of Jupiter in particular to be some of the best that I have seen.

Tonight 13/10/22 have been good  also and I have used my Celestron 6SE on goto and my Skywatcher 127 Maksutov on the AZ5 mount.

Altogether some very enjoyable nights viewing

Jupiter came into range and once again the seeing was truly amazing I could see colour in the bands  on both views I found that a 2x Barlow with a 30 mm eyepiece was the images produced.

Lastly the Moon came into view but the seeing started to deteriorate so I snapped a couple of images with my camera phone a pleasant night albeit brief

  8. Hi it looked promising earlier in the evening as I could see Saturn,Jupiter and the Moon.

I didn't expect to much owing to the brightness of the Moon ,I used my Skywatcher 127 Mak I love this scope and I used my skywatcher AZ5 for convenience.

First I set up on Saturn and I was surprised of the clarity the seeing wasn't bad at all.I then went onto Jupiter and once again the seeing was good.

The Moon was my next visit and obviously it was blinding even with a filter but I did have some decent views.

I was observing from my from drive which is open plan and all my neighbours know that I am usually out ,tonight I had 6 visitors looking at all the three objects and they were amazed at the Moon Jupiter and Saturn its good to share.

I did take a shot of the Moon with my phone but cloud had started to appears called it a night

  9. Hi  Tonight the Moon was in a good  position to view from my location and I used my Skywatcher 80ED pro telescope to view it and the image was nice and crisp . My Celestron 5 Fi was out of collimation so I set it up on Altair to adjust it and then used it to view Saturn and Jupiter which  were very good even though the Moon was very bright a very enjoyable night B03ED79F-09C2-4F62-8850-622AD86CB430.thumb.jpeg.cb595f5c5121cbd0c3b19da1c5fde036.jpegB03ED79F-09C2-4F62-8850-622AD86CB430.thumb.jpeg.cb595f5c5121cbd0c3b19da1c5fde036.jpegmB03ED79F-09C2-4F62-8850-622AD86CB430.thumb.jpeg.cb595f5c5121cbd0c3b19da1c5fde036.jpeg ight

  12. Hi the chance to do any observing this month has been nil from my location so I have been refurbishing an old theodolite tripod to use with my Skywatcher az mount which is very stable

I have had this for over 40 years

I did manage about 15 minutes looking at the Sun  then the heavens opened up7A41515B-2EE8-4CFD-9AAE-8A6BFE56C188.thumb.jpeg.362f87e869e5604dd49b5d3b637c4a65.jpeg
