It's testament to the amount of hours Mike has put into it Alan.

  3. my mate who i sold my 14" to with a moonlight focuser on has no issues with inwards focus and it has two riser plates on.  honestly when i used it with the 30mm ES on the moon to test how well it corrected against my SIPS i was shocked at how sharp it was on the edges.  the craters on the moon when pushed to the edges of the EP where as sharp as in the middle . these are underrated.  steve its shame your not coming to SGL i have all my mates gear in my shed , i could have brought it for you to try.

    Thanks all,

I may go for a Tracer battery in the future but initially I was looking for something that I can run of the mains.  I don't have an observatory which was leading me away from the Maplins style PSUs towards something a bit easier to plug into an extension lead outside.

Maybe the answer is just to go straight for a Tracer battery!

    Andrew

I had a 4AH one cost me £60 from eBay.  It powered 4 dew straps and a hair dryer for 6 hours in sub temperatures I really rate them

  5. firstly check these out http://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-quattro-f4/skywatcher-quattro-f4-imaging-newtonian.html  i had one and liked it very much. 2nd buying a mount from here or http://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php is fine. ideally you would need a HEQ6 by the time you add imaging equipment the weight adds up.

do you have any ideas on what imaging equipment you are likey to be using.
