@Rustang  Hi, all on a static mount.  The pano mount can be set/indexed to give a specific number of degrees alt or az pan.  It is also set to rotate around the entrance pupil of the lens to avoid parallax issues with near objects.

Took 4 x 8s, move manually to next position and repeat.

Stack each set in Sequator with freeze ground option then throw into MS Image Composite Editor to create pano.

Tracked, stacked and stitched panoramas are tricky and you'll probably need to do a Sky Replacement with a static imaged foreground.   Paul.

I see, maybe one day Il play around with it all 👍

  2. Happisburgh Lighthouse, what amazing skies there are on the Norfolk coast. I took the risk of driving 3hrs to the coast on Tuesday after work with the prediction of it being clear and thankfully it was.

Foreground one single 20 sec exposure, the sky- tracked and stacked with approximately 1 hours worth of 90 sec subs at iso 1600 f2.8 at 16mm. I'm pretty impressed by the Fuji XT-2 considering its not modified!.

The reflection was created by a mirror I took with me.

Lovely images - and lovely mills too, I know them well and sometime do bike rides based on Quainton, Brill, Wheatley and Great Haseley mills. But in daylight and not with that wind!

Wheatley and Great Haseley look like nice windmills too, Haseley more so would make for a great star trail image or the Milkyway in the summer because of where and how its positioned :)

  4. Last night/this morning I braved the force of mother nature to create these two images. The two Windmills, Brill and Quainton are situated only 20 minuets away from each other in Buckinghamshire. I had planned these projects a short while back but didnt realise until I got to one of them that a sail had been broken.  It turns out it happened in November last year during strong winds. a real shame so I had to do my own repair job!

Lit by moon light, the seperate Windmill captures were blended with the Star trails taken separately on site at Brill to allow me to create the look I was going for.

233 x 30 sec subs for the star trails.

  5. What a numpty! 🤦‍♂️ I should really get to know my cameras and not leave things up to assumptions or hopeful thinking. After looking into it, the manual focus ring on my lens is actually useful and is combined with a focus range indicator on the LCD so I can test where infinity focus is on that indicator as use that when out imaging. We live and learn 😊

  6. ..because the stars are not in focus properly!.

Bit gutted this happened because i checked the first few subs and they appeared 'ok' on the back of the camera screen, it wasnt until the files were uploaded on the computer that i noticed the issue. Its an auto focus lens, I focused on a distant light which it picked up but hasnt reached infinity. The lens only has a fly-by-wire focus ring which isant going to be much help and there's no other way to dial the focus in manually so I'm not sure what to do going forward, its a shame as its a lovely lens.

Anyway this is Cygnus rising at Southwold Pier, the foreground was taken around 5:30pm, then I headed to my parents in Gorleston for the night then hit the coast again around 4am for the sky. I wasnt going to post it but its good enough for now until i can get back to the coast to re capture the sky hopefully in focus..

    Fuji XT-2, Fuji 16-55mm f2.8 lens.
