  1. I get to excited to see what I've captured though! 😊
  2. It's been amazing recently with clear skies, I just need to catch up on sleep as I'm shattered with the long nights and all the driving. Worth it though 😊
  3. I was on call this weekend and I had to go in today on my birthday so I thought sod it, before I go in, for an early birthday treat Il head to the coast to have one final attempt at capturing Cygnus rising before it ends up heading into the day time. I captured an hour on Cygnus then hung around for the sun to rise for the foreground.
  4. Thanks, it was a long drive, time and effort that's gone into it so I'm really pleased with the end result
  5. Happisburgh Lighthouse, what amazing skies there are on the Norfolk coast. I took the risk of driving 3hrs to the coast on Tuesday after work with the prediction of it being clear and thankfully it was. Foreground one single 20 sec exposure, the sky- tracked and stacked with approximately 1 hours worth of 90 sec subs at iso 1600 f2.8 at 16mm. I'm pretty impressed by the Fuji XT-2 considering its not modified!. The reflection was created by a mirror I took with me.
  6. thats a cool image, I would happily have that as a print! I wonder it its a true but probably a little exaggerated representation of what they saw
  7. Wheatley and Great Haseley look like nice windmills too, Haseley more so would make for a great star trail image or the Milkyway in the summer because of where and how its positioned
  8. It was nice to do something a little different to the standard lines and yeah I'm definitely going to see how they look in print 😊
  9. Last night/this morning I braved the force of mother nature to create these two images. The two Windmills, Brill and Quainton are situated only 20 minuets away from each other in Buckinghamshire. I had planned these projects a short while back but didnt realise until I got to one of them that a sail had been broken. It turns out it happened in November last year during strong winds. a real shame so I had to do my own repair job! Lit by moon light, the seperate Windmill captures were blended with the Star trails taken separately on site at Brill to allow me to create the look I was going for. 233 x 30 sec subs for the star trails.
  10. What a numpty! 🤦‍♂️ I should really get to know my cameras and not leave things up to assumptions or hopeful thinking. After looking into it, the manual focus ring on my lens is actually useful and is combined with a focus range indicator on the LCD so I can test where infinity focus is on that indicator as use that when out imaging. We live and learn 😊
  11. Thanks 😊 They were at the limit of useable so focus was only a little out.
  12. ..because the stars are not in focus properly!. Bit gutted this happened because i checked the first few subs and they appeared 'ok' on the back of the camera screen, it wasnt until the files were uploaded on the computer that i noticed the issue. Its an auto focus lens, I focused on a distant light which it picked up but hasnt reached infinity. The lens only has a fly-by-wire focus ring which isant going to be much help and there's no other way to dial the focus in manually so I'm not sure what to do going forward, its a shame as its a lovely lens. Anyway this is Cygnus rising at Southwold Pier, the foreground was taken around 5:30pm, then I headed to my parents in Gorleston for the night then hit the coast again around 4am for the sky. I wasnt going to post it but its good enough for now until i can get back to the coast to re capture the sky hopefully in focus.. Fuji XT-2, Fuji 16-55mm f2.8 lens.
  13. Thanks Paul, the stars were a menace, as in so many and I need a stop down ring to remove their flares but it's still a better version.
  14. Now that I've calmed down from seeing all the lovely details coming through, I though I would have a better stab at processing the data again! 😊
  15. It's like a lot of things in this game, some things work for some, some don't but if you can find anyway to help you process your hard earned data then that's all that's matters. It really is a crazy hobby this one 😊
  16. I've been informed many times that darks are useless with DSLRs, I shoot bias and as said above to Zummerzet_Leveller, I've really tried to get good flats but keep failing. Gradient xterminator has been great in the past with data from my main set up but it's not been much help with my camera and lens data. AstroFlat just sorted things out today in one fell swoop 😊
  17. Forgot to answer your other part. Mostly issues with cheaper lens and then the processing of the data. Until this image and using the 'astro flat' plug in, I would only get a short way in to stretching and it would go horrible quickly and I just couldn't process out the un even gradients. I've been using my Fuji XT-2 for all the Star trail images and it's been awesome, I was hoping to use the 6D for more of this kind of wide field stuff and only just getting there now. I will certainly be using it when the Milkyway season starts again 😊 I think better quality len's really help and this image data was captured in decent bortle 4 skies which makes a difference.
  18. I've tried many different ways, the latest now slightly lightens the vignetting instead of removing it. I've tried, 1 second flats, 2 second flats, covered the view finder, taken in a dark room, had the peak in varying positions on the histogram etc, etc. Fed up with taking them now. Maybe it's the Led panel that's at fault but I'm pretty sure others have success with them. I also don't take them after the session.
  19. Thanks 😊 il be honest I wasn't taking much notice of the stars, I was to excited by all the details coming through! 😁 What ever you see on the stars is how they came out in the stack, I haven't processed them in anyway. Il check the subs though tomorrow when I get a moment. What I have noticed though is the corners have some abbreviations but not to bad, at least its fairly sharp in the corners! I've cropped it a little too.
