Do you think there is much use for an 8mm in a 10 inch f4.7 dob?

So it looks like my eyepiece collection will be Myriad 3.5mm, Myriad/Pentax XW 5mm (will sell one eventually). 6mm Delos, 7mm Pentax XW, 9mm Myriad, 13mm APM Lunt, 20mm Myriad and 30mm Explore Scientific 82 degrees. Just three left to buy. 

John what are your shorter focal length eyepieces up to 8mm?

It’s a 5mm Pentax XW. I’m leaning towards the Delos and the Pentax as well thanks  

Okay so building up my eyepiece set for my f4.7 dob. 

I have a 5mm Myriad MWA and Pentax XW.  My next size up is a 9mm Myrid MWA.

Televue Delos 6mm

Televue Nagler 7mm

What would you go for given the choice?

Explore Scientific 82 degrees? Great value and parfocul. I have a similar sized scope but only been into this a year or so. Been buying Myriad XWA 100 degrees (discontinued but available from Europe under APM Lunt) Pentax XW and the ES 82 degrees. It would have been cheaper to just build up a set of the ES 82 degrees from the start and as a beginner with little time to do this I probably wouldn’t notice much difference. Increasing field of view hasn’t been my main priority when doing my first equipment upgrades as it is difficult to find stuff as a beginner.

Is that because of eye relief yea?

I now have a mixture of ES 82 degrees, Myriad 100/110 degrees and Pentax XW. Just working out how to complete my set, which to keep and which to sell. I’m comfortable with all of them but just wondering on your thoughts, which do you think you would prefer?

scope is a 10 inch F4.7 manual dob.

the first set is assuming an APM Lunt 7mm comes out as I heard it is this year.  

The three sets are.

1. Mixture of ES 82 degrees and Myriad/APM Lunt

2. Compete ES 82 degrees set.

3. Mixture of ES 82 degrees and Pentax XW.

Something I learned from getting my first dob last year, my first scope as well. Is get a good focuser. The view keeps bouncing around and nudging out of view with the rubbish that comes with the Orion XT Classic. Maybe it’s uodated now as mine was used.  Hoping to get one with dual speed Crayford next like the GSO delux.

Thanks, still can’t decide between these two ? I’m not going to rush. The 90/900 is slightly below but very close to the Sedgwick standard or whatever it’s called and the F11 slightly above. Also the Astromaster comes with a red dot finder and the Evostar comes with a 6x30 finderscope. Not used either before. 

Thanks, they don't appear to sell the Meade 90/1000 anymore. I've just read that AZ mounts are meant for terrestrial so maybe I should get used to an EQ. Can you tell me if this has a star diagonal? As the 90/900 Evostar EQ does and is cheaper than the AZ.

It's only for 1.25" eyepieces though, do you think that should be okay say if I purchase a 32mm?

Nebula, which 90 F11 do you have that takes 2 inch eye pieces?

Thanks, I'm not interested in an EQ mount to start with. I've been calculating field of view and magnification with the lenses supplied and with some optional ones. There is also the Evostar 90 AZ pronto that appears to be a much better mount. I can always put in a 32mm eyepiece for a wider field of view. Also looking at spending more on something that comes with a dual focuser for 2 inch eyepieces as well but probably won't on this occasion due to the cost. F11 does sound good though. Are both scopes the same build quality pretty much, by synta?

Sorry ignore my previous post as I have changed my mind. Which of these would you recommend for a first scope. I understand that it seems to be a trade off between field of view and CA reduction. F10 vs F11.11. I can’t decide what. Just for planetary and lunar observing to begin with.
