  1. Yeah im literally just researching the combo now and thats what a lot of people have said. I'm now leaning more towards a 130/150 dps scope. What 80mm scope do you have?
  2. Another great response, thanks a million for that. The HEQ5 I got actually has the Rowan belt upgrade! Do you think the 200PDS is better than the ED80? I'll have to do some more research on getting a guidescope setup, dont know much about that. Would the 200PDS hold up with a guidescope on my HEQ5? Thats a lot of great information, really appreciate that.
  3. Cheers, appreciate the lengthy response! I''m keeping an eye out for a second hand telescope, so i'll take what I can get when a good deal pops up. How can I avoid chromatic aberration with the ED80 if I got one of those? Also, what camera do you recommend? I was thinking of picking up a 600d if I found one.
  4. Was just about to post my own thread and came across this. Is this 130PDS the best telescope for a beginner when it comes to astrophotography? Most of the suggestion I came across were a Skywatcher ED 72/80mm. I just picked up a HEQ5 Pro, so now looking for a telescope for astrophotography.
  5. Right now the general price seems to be around 600 quid. I got one for 550 with a few added bits. I think second hand used to be a good bit cheaper, but no in todays market due to very little stock.
  6. I just picked up a HEQ5 Pro after I finally found a good used deal. I did consider going for a cheaper star adventurer, but what I really want to do is take DSO images. What else should I look to pickup while keeping budget in mind? I would prefer to keep the remaining budget under 500 pounds and I am certainly open to buying second hand gear. So I need a telescope of course and a camera, but which ones should I look out for with my budget? Also, should I look into adding a guidecamera with this budget or wait until I can afford it? Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks for that. Seems like its an old Orion scope? Must be very old if thats the case. Is it bad to buy a second hand scope that old?
  8. Im looking for a dobsonian telescope and found one on a local marketplace site (Can't find any for sale online). I havent seen this one before and couldn't find anything like it online. There doesn't seem to be a brand name on it. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks in advance.
  9. Ah ok makes sense. I probably will upgrade down the line though is the only thing. So would it make sense to go with the SLV now? Or perhaps go with a 10 or 12mm SLV now, and a 30mm BST now with a 2x barlow? I really dont know, im very indecisive! What would you for if you were in my position?
  10. Do you reckon it would be worthwhile to get one or two SLV eyepieces? Would it be worth it over some plossls?
  11. Also, whats the difference bwteen the Vixen SLV and Vixen NPL eyepieces? Would it ber worth going for those?
  12. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-eyepieces/skywatcher-sp-plossl-eyepieces.html What about these ones? Theyre have the cost of the BST ones, but whats the differnece?
  13. Similar to what Ruud said too, must be a good shout so! Thanks so much!
  14. This is exactly what I was looking for, thats super helpful thanks so much! I think i'll go with your second or third option, ill do a bit more research and see. Just out of curiosity, what should I be able to see with this telescope?
  15. Hi all, i bought my first telescope today second hand. It’s the Celestron astromaster 90EQ and I got an excellent deal on it. My budget was around 2-300 and I got this for 60 used in my area. I’m wondering if I should spend some extra on some eyepieces, would it be worth it? I was researching in eyepieces but tbh I’m still a bit confused on if I’d benefit from them. Can anyone advice me on this?
  16. I am considering purchasing the HEQ5 mount without GoTo and upgrade at a later date. I am actually not sure how it all works though. What actually tracks the stars in sync with the earth rotation? Is it the mount itself that is motorized or is it the GoTo mod that does that? I ask because I am wanting to do DSO astrophotography. I am not too fussed about visual at the minute. I would love to take some deep sky images of Orion, Pleiades etc, which I could find easily without a GoTo mod. So basically, would using the mount without GoTo and a telescope attached allow me to do long exposures? Thanks
