Perfect, I googled it myself but I got a bit confused. Thanks for that, I may aswell get the best in the price range while im here! Definitely. Which is why I really appreciate everyones help here. This forum is great, i'd struggle without everyones help! Brilliant! I was about to pay 35 euro for one! So im trying to create a picture in my head of what my setup will look like, or how it will connect to each other. Am I correct in saying Camera > T2 adapter > coma corrector > telescope?
-
Thats a good way of putting it, thanks! I guess it just shows my lack of knowledge when it comes to all this. I'll get it with time and begin to understand it, its just quite overwhelming. There's a lot of different things to know! Would that coma corrector work for my setup? I did some research and I would probably benefit from using it. I'll see if I can pick one up second hand. I'll be more annoyed if I dont get it and it turns out I need it to balance!

Ok perfect, thanks for clearing that up. I'll stick with the F/5 for now then. In regards to a coma corrector, would this one work? - https://www.firstlightoptics.com/coma-correctors/baader-mark-iii-mpcc-coma-corrector-photographic.html Although, it is a bit expensive. I thought it was going to be cheaper than that! Is there a cheaper one than this or would I be best off going for that one? My bank account is wheeping! Another question, My HEQ5 mount only came with 1 counterweight, will I need to buy another one to properly balance with the TS-Photon F5 and a 600d? I've added a T-ring adapter for my 600D to my cart, I hope thats everything to get started...

You guys are on the ball! Appreciate the speedy and informative responses. I think i'll just stick with the F5 for now if I decide to go for that telescope. I would've preferred to get a 130PDS, but its in the void and nowhere to be found. So I need a coma corrector if I go with the Photon 6 F5, is there anything else I need to pick up?

I have been trying and trying to find an Astrophotography telescope that is in stock, but its becoming a very difficult task. Most of the suppliers are out of stock and nothing is coming in for quite some while by the looks of it. I initially wanted a 130PDS but I can't find one anywhere, even used. (Speaking of which, if anyone has a used telescope suitable for Astrophotography, send me a message!). I'm not sure if anyone else has much luck with other suppliers. I'll be using a HEQ5 Pro mount with a DSLR camera and down the line I want to implement guiding. So, i'm not sure what the weight of the telescope should be or if these telescopes are too heavy. Perhaps some of the more knowledgable users can chime in on this. Anyways, here are the telescopes I have found and are in my budget. TS Photon 6" F5 - https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p12285_TS-PHOTON-6--F5-Advanced-Newtonian-Telescope-with-metal-tube.html Bresser Refractor Messier AR-102L/1350 - https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p9739_Bresser-Refractor-Messier-AR-102L-1350---Optical-Tube-Assembly.html Skywatcher 80/400mm - https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p4485_Skywatcher-Startravel-80-OTA---80-400mm-Refraktor-opt--tube.html Not sure how good/bad these are or if they are even suitable at all for my use, but its all I could find.

Interesting. Whichever one I get, i'm going to mod it myself to save some money. Is the noise difference worth the extra money for the 600d compared to say a 450d, 1000d or 1100d?
-
I have not, how does it weigh up against a 600d?
-
Ah god, very hard to decide! Do you think it would be worthwhile to get a 600d over a 1000d?
-
Thanks for that. What was your reason behind upgrading from the 450d to the 600d?
-
Ah good spot. I can pick up an 1000d for 80 quid, or a 600d for 170. I think I will just choose the 1000d and try to mod it myself.
-
Thats very interesting, thanks for that. So the 1000d seems to produce the lowest noise, does that make it the best camera for Astrophotography? I know the others have some extra features such as the angled liveview, wifi and im sure others, but I wouldn't be fussed about those. The canon 1000d has 10MP, while the 600d has 18MP, how big a difference does that make for Deep sky astrophotography? Edit: For some reason the photo below cropped. For reference the light blue is the 600d, and the dark blue at the bottom is the 1000d.

Sorry to bring back this old thread, is the 1200d the better option over the 600d in terms of noise? I dont care about any other features, I just want as minimal amount of noise during my sessions.

Beginner astrophotography setup with HEQ5 Pro Mount?
AlanP_ replied to AlanP_'s topic in Getting Started With Imaging
Its good enough for me to understand it! Thanks for that. Do you think I should look into getting autoguiding setup too or should I wait until I have more experience? I came across a good deal on a meade deep sky camera, would that be a good guide camera? -
Beginner astrophotography setup with HEQ5 Pro Mount?
AlanP_ replied to AlanP_'s topic in Getting Started With Imaging
Very well put. I do want to get guiding and probably some extras in the future, so I think to start off I will try pick up a 130/150 PDS (whichever comes available first!) and go from there. I'm happy I waited a while to find a good deal on a HEQ5, I was considering a cheaper mount but my patience has paid off. -

Yeah I was pleasently surprised to see what some people are able to capture with the 130pds and it fits nicely into my budget too. Should be able to get a coma corrector too. its just a matter of finding one! Everywhere is out of stock.
