  1. Thanks a lot! Yeah theres definitely more that can be done with that image, ill give it another go during the week I think polar alignment may not have been fully accurate for me. I'll have to do some research on it and go at it again but overall im happy with it! Thanks for the advice
  2. Hi all, I have had so much trouble with my mount telescope, camera and software over the past few months. Mainly just down to me being so new to the hobby. However, last night the stars aligned (hehe) and I finally got my first image. I only got 47 minutes worth of light frames at 30 seconds exposure, but it was 2:30am and I had work today. I am using a Canon 600D, TS-Photon 6" f5 telescope and a HEQ5 Mount. 30 seconds seems to be my max before star trails, is that normal or should I be able to do more? Anyways, here is the image. Its not perfect at all, but im happy all things considered. I probably will come back to this in the future and re-edit it as im sure I can get a lot more detail out of it, but editing photos is still new to me! I'm sure some of the people here would edit it a lot better than me. I have to say a big thank you to the people on this forum too, I'd be lost without the help of many of you!
  3. Hi all, I finally have everything set up perfectly and FINALLY fixed my focus problems!! However, I am now having some software issues I tried to take a test 5 second exposure on bulb mode, (camera set to manual also) but On APT it is stuck on 1/1 Busy. It takes the exposure, but then gets stuck on this and I cant cancel it. Does anyone know how to fix this? I will be so grateful for anyone who has this issue and I can get my first real imaging session! Thanks so much. Here is the Status I am seeing.
  4. I havent had a clear night since! What adapter would I need to connect the camera to the telescope eyepiece without using the CC? I want to test if I get better results without that. Hope I get a clear night soon, but the weather here has been terrible. Its a 600D to this telescope - https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/index.php/cat/c311_Newtons-TS-PHOTON.html I had a look on FLO, but to be honest im not sure what T ring would suit.
  5. Perfecto, will do. Appreciate your help a lot with this - hopefully I can get sprted soon.
  6. Here's a zoomed up section of the image. It was only 5 seconds exposure.
  7. I woke up this morning and I figured out what it was. My scope wasnt in the right positing. Im as nooby as it gets, but its the only way i'll learn 😅
  8. Thanks guys. Last night the stars I was looking at had where almost a 'triangular' shape. This was at full focus too. Why was this happening?
  9. I cant seem to do anything right in this hobby! I sorted my focus issue thanks to the help of many users on this forum. However, i've everything set up here and I went to slew to a star and its going in the wrong direction! I've done some googling myself and most issues seem to be wrong settings entered, but I dont think i have entered anything wrong. I didnt change any settings within ascom or APT since I last used it. I have mt GPS co ords in ascom and selected Polaris as my north star. In APT my date/time is correct (Yes, even in US format). Im not using a handset controller. Im connected directly from my mount to APT in my laptop. This is what I did the last time I used it too. What am I doing wrong? The scope is pointing west, when the star I Wanted is east.
  10. Of course, will do! It is strange, as the last time my problem why I couldn't focus was because of the extension tube! Anyways, will update if I solve it. Thanks again!
  11. I think it is a collimation problem for sure, despite the results of my laser collimation. For all I know I was tinkering with screws I shouldn't have when collimating... I really dont know as im still very, very new to this hobby. Either way, with that extension I seem to have 100% focus now. I removed the two rings from the cc, and added that extension and it seems to be more or less perfect. Within 5% of full focus anyways from what I can tell, its quite hazy and warm at the minute so I may well be at 100%. I'm happy with this now, I know its not ideal to use the extension and it should be plug and play, but it will do for now. Maybe I can ask locally if someone can collimate it with experience. I appreciate everyones help, this forum is so amazing because of the people in it and their expertise, helping annoying noobies like myself Thanks everyone - Its clear tonight so hopefully I get a good nights viewing.
  12. Ok, so the first image here are the two rings I took off, as per @alacant recommendation. Are these what you were referring to? The second image is with the focuser fully outward, this still isnt fully focused - Probably about 80%. The more inward the focuser is the worse it gets. I'm at a loss as to why this is the case.
  13. With the cc fully pushed in and the focuser fully outward it wasnt 100% focused. But when I put the cc half way in and tighten it to secure it, and have the focuser fully extended, I could get full focus. I dont know why... I didnt have to do this the last time to get focused. In terms of collimation, im using a laser collimator and the red dot was centred for both mirrors. It could very well be out, but the laser collimator is showing that its ok.
  14. So I got focused finally I think, although it’s a wee bit “hacky” for lack of a better word. It wouldn’t focus so I had to have half of the coma corrector in and then tighten it to the focused, so yeah not ideal, but I’m glad my scope is ok. I attached a few photos I took quickly as clouds were coming. What’s the bodge of the cc? I’m not familiar with the terminology. Tomorrow I’ll remove the two rings and try again. Should I still remove the m54 extension ring if I can on my scope? appreciate everyone’s help.
  15. Ok so I dont think my problem is shaving off some spacing. I actually need more. When I put the extension tube in, I can get things closer to me focused 100%. However, its just a bit too long for infinite focus. When I remove the extension tube, its just a bit too short for full focus! Ahh, so frustrating. So im a couple mm off focus and I cant get it with or with the extension tube.
  16. Bingo! Your warm water idea did the trick, thanks a lot. so is it the thin piece I’m removing? Btw, thats just some cloth fibre on the lens, not scratches! Has since been removed
  17. So can this bit that im pointing at come off? That is if the threads were still there 🤣
  18. Yeah, it was actually stuck on the t2 adapter the other day and I struggled to get it off, it was threaded on wrong. Fortunately, my brother in law showed me that I can use the grub screws on the t2 adapter to tighten the coma corrector on. It still fully flush when I tighten them.
  19. Thanks for the photo, much appreciated! I just took the coma corrector off the t2 adapter, am I missing something or does mine not have that end piece like you unscrewed there?
  20. I've had one imaging session with it so far that was successful and focused.
  21. Thanks a mill! Haven't noticed any vignetting, but maybe its also causing the focus issue - I dont have a clue.
