I would go with the SE if you want to gravitate to AP.
I believe you can buy a wedge for it, that won't cost much at all.
(The 5 comes with the wedge)
I don't do AP, so maybe others have a better idea of what to get in your budget.
Maybe buy a decent scope for AP, but just get an affordable mount right now, then upgrade to a good EQ in the future.
Just a thought.
Good luck 😃

Did your PST arrive as expected? If so, have you had chance to try it?
Oh it's here, along with at least a week of clouds.
So it just sits, I speak comforting words to it so it doesn't get depressed 😂

Agena is a great company!!!
I am not familiar with overseas shipping, but if I order something from them I get a tracking number within hours.
Great folks to deal with

Both an 8" Dob and the 6SE are great scopes
can't go wrong with either 😉
The 6SE will have tracking which makes it easier to share the views of course.

Considering all we have been through, at least we had a Mars Opposition

Nonsense. We could go around on this. I have a shaky 70 mm National Geographic that I use while my 10-inch RCT sits in the garage. It weight 65 lbs to my 68 kg.
https://necessaryfacts.blogspot.com/2019/12/in-support-of-entry-level-telescope.html
This past October I bought myself an Explore Scientific First Light 102 mm refractor. It was $239 retail and the best thing about it is that I can carry it through the back door and out into the yard. The best telescope is the one that gets used.
Well, remember you and I are already astronomers.
We have the patience and even desire to make something work.
I enjoy picking up telescopes from garage sales that nobody really wants.
I tune them up, make some improvements and donate them to my club.
They distribute them to schools and libraries in less fortunate areas :)

Welcome to SGL
I am not familiar with finder mounting on a Tak, but I am sure someone can help here.
(Maybe ask over in the refractor threads)
I sure that Tak will bring a bunch of clouds to New England 😆

A 6" newt is a nice scope, I started with a 3"
I don't do anything AP, but many here do.
There are no dumb questions, so feel free to ask anything
