Oh jeez what a wonderful 102 this is, and on a Vixen mount to boot! which I am partial to, it looks like you have found a beautiful scope there my friend. My jealousy is tarting to show through isn't it? its ok I'm not trying to hide it.

This is fantastic, I cannot say I have seen this detail in Cal-k before, it would be interesting to know how you went about it, scope used and such.

Definitely one of those subjects that is highly dependant of typical conditions in your area, trial and error over several nights of observation will narrow down your highest possible magnification for planetary.
There really is no cut and dry answer for what magnification will be your average highest useable power as there are so many variables involved, I had to try several eyepieces before I settled on a range which
was most practical for my scope and typical conditions. It may take some time and swapping of eyepieces before you find which one is best for you.

Thanks for the comment. I think the trouble is you always want to do better if you know the scope has produced more detail in the past. It’s still good fun though and keeps me amused !
Ah yes but atmospheric conditions are the reason NASA had to spend billions to get a scope in space so don't fault yourself my friend.

This is interesting as I have often thought about how great it would be to image Epsilon Lyrae, I wonder if it can be done with a planetary imaging cam? sure as heck I will try.
