  1. OK, so we have all (or maybe not) heard about NASA's next mission to send a probe, rocket, machine, craft into space with the aim of potentially knocking an asteroid off course, if it was Earth bound.

Don't worry, it's not on course to hit Earth.

Apparently it will slam into the asteroid at 17,000 mph.

What's your opinion?. Possible, Plausible or Failure?.

    Received today, a pre-loved 'frac.

I had a theory that it was only new purchases that affected the weather adversely.

Before the delivery, CO was forecasting a clear night; I just refreshed the page:

I have the 102XS. I love it. The finder scope is terrible though.

    That's a disappointment. Not to worry. ☹️

It must be a cultural thing.  Up here, "handbag" is all encompassing, used to describe various types of bag, for instance a shoulder bag, cross the body, clutch, clasp, etc.

For example the missus may be found scrambling around frantically and ask, "Where's me 'andbag?" when referring to the particular bag used that week which could be any of the styles above and more... 😀

If I find out who I got it from, I'll let you know. There's thousands available online. This one is extremely good quality and only cost about €30. I just found that it also contains a self retracting cord in the top compartment that you can attach your house or bike lock keys. Nice little feature. Also, the inside material in all compartments is similar to a cooling/keep warm bag (no more warm sandwiches for lunch, and keep EPs warm at night). It can be worn underneath clothing because it's not big and bulky (extra level of security.

    I'm well happy.

Just say what it is. It's a handbag for men...

Link please. I need to check they have them in light brown to match my astro boots, or should I go for biege, maybe a completely different colour for contrast? Why is being on trend is sooo complicated?! 😉

I don't carry it in my hand(s), so not a handbag. I can't remember who I bought it from. It was an advert on FB. I also bought ( a few weeks ago) one of those wallets that flip your cards up, and your cards can't be read by those scimming machines, from the same company which was also on FB.

  5. This arrived today. It's an over shoulder, cross chest "Manbag". Very handy for keeping wallets, phones and others bits and bobs in. At night it can be used for storing EPs, and other bits of astro gear while outside. There's plenty of storage space in its five compartments. It even comes with a mesh drinks pouch.

Available in different colours and an option to have it left or right handed.

Excellent suggestion. To which I'll add Newgrange (or the whole Brú na Bóinne site). A fascinating visit including a guided tour of the Neolithic monuments.

When we were there, English Heritage members got free or reduced entry (can't remember which).

We are off to the Boyne Valley for a week. It's been yrs since I visited Newgrange. We might just take a trip. We may even drive to Birr to see the Leviathan, even though its in Offaly. Was at some time, the largest telescope in the world. The scope is gone, but the rest is original.

Not had a clear day here for more than 3 weeks, so being rather bored I decided to buy a small study set of meteorites.  I found it very interesting looking up the stories of how they were found and classified. I never thought I would have pieces of the Moon, Mars and 4Vesta in my hand. I decided to buy a small digital microscope for a closer look. I could only get a 2 mp scope but I was wowed with the views that popped up on my computer screen. The only problem was , like buying a beginners telescope, the stand that came with the microscope was only a degree above being useless. On to Amazon and I got a much better retort stand. Now I am completely hooked on meteorite collection and my bank balance is starting to groan.

I bought 2 òf these from FLO. Neither worked, so I got a full refund and free return.

  8. My meteorite display case arrived about an hour ago. Thats a whole week earlier than expected. Its flat pack stuff, and weighs a good 10 Lbs (Inc packaging..cardboard box and Styrofoam).

    It came from Netherlands.

    Happy days.

It looks like this, but without the cars etc.

I think you will find it a good bit cheaper to buy direct. Only to be expected and not meant as a slight to FLO who I use for all my astro purchases.

No luck on Spacerocks. I did find the ideal display case on Amazon.de. it can be wall mounted (or not). I'd prefer to wall mount it because nowhere else to display. It gets very good reviews compared to the same product which come painted black or white. 4.5 stars. The others get a 4 star. Easily big enough to house my collection.
