Nonsense...mirrors just get more distorted as we get older!
This looks ideal actually. I love their stuff anyway and this has a built in head for vertical movement. They do a universal binocular holder too.

Ahh its the mirrors fault lol 🤣

Thanks both...I posted the wrong link as I'd just get the monopod itself. The foot element of it is just an add on, although it would allow the monopod to pivot round still, but I wouldn't go for that configuration. I like the fact that the monopod is 2m tall so would allow viewing standing up and also gives me scope for a growth spurt.
As for the tripod adapter, alas the Lecias don't have a screw thread like most do. I'm guessing because they're only 8x42s that is considered superfluous.
Yeh but at our age only growth spurt will be sideways 🤣

On your 20x80's there's/or should be a built in adaptor on a rail
theres a knurled knob on bottom of it that the screw in the tripod head screws into
is the celestron 20x80's you got ?
sorry had to edit this as i read it completely wrong having just woke up from a nap lol
-
it should be a standard 1/4 inch screw that fits into the built in adaptor on your bins ?
what tripod do you have ?
-
Observation bins take a wee bit of getting use to
-
what make and size bins are they ?
-
Do you have the Inter Pupilry Distance (IPD) set right ?
When looking through bins you should see a circular image not whats depicted on tv/movies of a binocular image

I've got the 16x70 Lightquest and really love their relative lightness and excellent optics. Mmmm, tempted by those above.
So am i but already have the Helios Apollo 22x85's but still very tempted 😍

It depends on age and your eyes as there's no real point in having an exit pupil of 7mm if your eyes cant dilate over 6mm which is a consideration
Also the higher mag gives you better contrast (ie darker background ) and things stand out a bit better
The lightquest bins are lighter with possibly better glass and coatings
Check out Steve Tonkins site Binocular Sky lot of good info there

went for the larger aperture and higher mag as they fitted in with other bins i have
also wanted a bit more light grasp over the 70mm
i use them down the foreshore watching the ships going up and down the Forth as well as for astronomy
Awesome binoculars imho 🍻

Yeh it was getting a bit wobbly. I'd be really interested in getting some bigger bins with a tripod. Will a camera tripod do? And do you have any recommendations in the 500quid range?
what about these ?
https://www.firstlightoptics.com/tripods/horizon-8115-2-way-heavy-duty-tripod.html
with
22x85 bins
both are what i use and works well 🍻

awesome find 😀

Correction:
After getting the brass plate translated, I have discovered the true production year is 1944 not 1940.
Still WW2 era tho 🍻
Wonder if they ever served in a ship ?

i would think so
Steve Tonkin (Binocular Sky) uses a monopod for his Lunt 16x70 bins 🍻
