  1. My Nan could not read or write and so she never followed up on her experience apart from telling her story by spoken word.     As a teenager I was fascinated to hear her describe the phenomena first hand.  This was the era before the internet and my knowledge of the strange and unexplained came from libraries and in particular "Aurthur C.Clarkes Mysterious World".

Her description was very close to the other accounts in the detail.   One thing I remember was her saying that the bright sphere came down the chimney, followed her around the room and when she opened the window to 'shoo' it out   (!!!!), the object passed through the glass.

For a lady of her background, that must have been on a par to seeing a ghost !

  2. Near Baden-Baden in Germany.   Forecast was mixed and looking very poor for our original site, so we used native tracker instincts and ended up in a small town to witness about 75% coverage.  Looking good......

....then a huge thunder cloud rolled over and obliterated everything.   It got dark  <check >,  it got cold  <check >  .... I got soaked through.⛈️..errr that shouldn't happen.

Stood in a kind residents garage doorway,  watching a downpour, imagining what should have been.

  3. Thanks Adam.

I had a smile on my face when the first sub came through..... "oh yes".... I thought  "this might just work out".   ( Not always the case with my imaging.)

It's not quite the Hubble rendition, but it cost about 4 billion pounds less....

OK, well, maybe ... looking at the kit I acquired in the last year or two, 3 billion pounds less  😂🤣

  4. A popular object at the moment and derservingly so.

There is a slot between a beast of a tree and my neighbours house that allows about an hour of imaging of this iconic object.  I was keen and the Moon with scudding cloud kept out of the way.

So  23x1min Ha   and  11 x 2mins O3   with an Atik 414ex mono @-20'C  attached to an UK Orion Optics Mak140 ( Astrophysics 0.67x reducer).

This is the intial DSS stretch and a bit of tweaking in PS.  No refinement to be seen here !!

I'm quite pleased with that.  😀

  5. Hi David,

I use a program called  REGISTAR which scans and aligns any image you care to put into it.

As long as it has a few stars as a reference it will make a good job of arranging all the stacked final components of L R G B or Ha O3 S2  into a common fixed frame.

Then I use PS to do the adding and tweaking, although REGISTAR does itself have a basic combination feature.

It is quite expensive, and there may be other programs that do the same within a bigger package, but I find it works very well.

Thanks Olly.    You are right, there is something circular in there, as you say .....down and left a bit.

I didn't what to create an optical illusion of circularity with two orthogonal arrows,  suggesting a presence  than was not by itself a stand out feature.

Thought it would be more obvious with these exposures, credit to all those who have bagged it though.

Might have to get the 6"F4 reflector out and give it a go approaching the New Moon.

My reference was the photo on the Atik Camera's  Summer Targets Page.

    Cheers,
