  1. I disagree, yes ok it is not the best, but if like me, budget, experience and dedication to this fantastic hobby are in limited supply, great results are achievable. I have managed 60 seconds exposures when everything goes well, polar alignment, balance, focus and objects in a favourable position. It has brought to me objects that are invisible to the naked eye and very difficult to even see through the scope. Here’s just a sample of what I’ve imaged with this set up using a non modded canon 1100d, no filters.

If like me, you have set your expectations at an achievable level, this set up is great. I love it.

  2. Another successful launch for Space X, it still amazes me the science that goes into launching and then landing the first stage on a moving barge in the ocean.  Did anyone notice lightening in the background before launch?

  3. Been very quiet on here recently, pesky summer.  Anyway, I was so pleased to get back out a few nights ago, and I'm over the moon with my attempt at the pillars of creation in the Eagle Nebula. So low, and houses and trees limiting my time to just 80 x 20 sec exposures ISO 1600 plus bias. It's not Hubble, but it's mine. Bonus Wild Duck Cluster to round off a bird themed DSO few hours.
